Thanksgiving to our Friends and Neighbors,
We wanted you to know that the 1991 “Tree of Hope” will be lit on Thanksgiving night in honor of all those who have perished from the virus. It then will be lite from Dec. 1 to Jan. 1 to remember all the souls we have lost in California fires over the years. We want to especially thank our daughter, son in law and grandson (Janae, Lawrence & Christopher) who came over from Sacramento with their masks and managed to put the 1,000 lights on our “tree”.
This year’s group of over 65 and older volunteers rightfully felt it would not be a healthy time to volunteer to get together and put up the lights but would come back next year in a flash. We thank the many neighbors over the past 25 years who have assisted us in putting up and taking down our lights and the many contributions to improve the lighting process and furnishing hundreds of feet of new line and purchasing new light bulbs.
We especially thank Barry Pilger and Catherine Moss who have been the Chief Elves in organizing our tradition and this past year repairing and replacing many of our hundreds of feet electrical cords. So, Thanksgiving is a time for family and tradition. Most all of us will celebrate in a much smaller scale this year and will miss the tradition of hugging our family members and sharing memories in person. But I believe you all have a plan B and will utilize every resource to express your love and thoughts to your friends and family. May our tree lights this Thanksgiving and through the coming days, shine for all of us to remember those we lost this year and remind us to reach out and give encouragement to others. We are blessed to live in a great Nation.
